Live Well Silver and Gold Club brings together the talents and resources of those 55 & older in Southwest Missouri.
The Live Well club fosters an environment of companionship, growth, fun and social interaction enriching the lives of all who participate. The club meets regularly at different venues determined by the activity.
Ruth Ann Wood-Humiston, PhD second-generation funeral director and owner of Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, founded the Live Well Silver & Gold Club of Southwest Missouri, an outreach program to address the unique needs of mature adults. There are different seasons and chapters in life, many resulting from an empty nest, loss of a loved one, being new to the community, or simply not knowing what to do with themselves as they face retirement. Live Well is specifically designed to help members stay active and make healthy connections as they move from one chapter to the next.
Our Mission
To provide a supportive platform for our members that will strengthen and stimulate their emotional, intellectual and physical health while providing a variety of activities and events that promote meaningful interaction and friendships enhancing happiness and life satisfaction as part of a life well lived.
Why Should I Join?
The Live Well Silver & Gold Club is for members age 55 and older who want to continue living a life well lived through connections with others with similar interests, continue to be active and learn new things, and be a positive influence in our community, adding to their next chapter in life.
Our regular monthly Luncheon Series provides healthy meals with friends, along with educational presentations provided by guest speakers from our community, local entertainement, and announcements. There will be opportunities to discuss ideas for future Live Well events and register for activities.

We post Live Well activities on the Live Well and funeral home Facebook page, and reach out to members via email. For those not connected to electronic media, we will call and /or mail members with opportunities to meet new people and attend events. We welcome members to suggest ideas for fun and informative activities and events, and assist in developing, planning, and coordinating them.
Monthly Luncheons: Unless specified, monthly luncheons will be held every 3rd Wednesday starting at 11:00 AM at Sac River Event Center, 2328 North Farm Road 101, Springfield, MO (just west of the airport). It is very important to RSVP your attendance so we can plan accordingly. Please RSVP by emailing us at: info@walnutlawnfuneralhome.com, calling #417-886-6127, or replying to our special event each month on Facebook at least 2 days ahead of the luncheon. The luncheons are at no cost. We are very thankful and appreciate Sac River Event Center being a sponsoring partner with the Live Well Silver and Gold Club.
